Georgetown's Waterfront Dining Hot Spots: 7 Places To Eat

David Hatef

EXPERIENCE GEORGETOWN’S VIBRANT WATERFRONT WHILE DINING AT THESE POPULAR HOT SPOTS.

Located in the historic community of Georgetown, Washington Harbour is the District’s premier destination for waterfront entertainment. Set along the Potomac River with the Kennedy Center, Watergate, and Key Bridge in the distance, Washington Harbour is a beautiful destination for dining, as well as for ice skating in the winter months.

Whether you’re looking for a new restaurant for date night, want to entertain your holiday visitors, or simply want to grab a delicious brunch, here are some excellent restaurants for waterfront dining in Georgetown.

FIOLA MARE

Created by husband-and-wife team Fabio and Maria Trabocchi, Fiola Mare prides itself on serving the freshest seafood in the District. Dishes are prepared with a simple approach using ingredients that enhance the flavor and presentation of each meal.

FARMERS FISHERS BAKERS

Farmers Fishers Bakers offers a unique combination of environmental stewardship and a fun atmosphere. The “urban farmhouse” sources local ingredients, creates all its meals from scratch, and is dog-friendly. Their brunch is a local staple, their everyday breakfast is a necessity, and their beverage menu is a treat. You can also choose from a menu of tiki drinks at this Georgetown waterfront restaurant, including sections devoted to Zombies and Mai Tais.

GUAPO’S OF GEORGETOWN

Guapo’s of Georgetown is a family restaurant committed to fresh flour tortillas, apparent when you gaze upon the BE&SCO tortilla maker near the back of the restaurant. Clarified butter is the ultimate condiment compliment to the fajitas, and you shouldn’t pass on the shredded beef enchiladas, either. Waterfront dining is made possible thanks to the 50-seat outdoor patio.

NICK’S RIVERSIDE GRILL

Nick's provides an outside bar with fire pits giving warmth and a nice view of the Potomac and ice rink during the winter months. Snack on wings, chicken nachos, old bay fries, and other late-night favorites. The service is always great, and people watching never disappoints.

BEST SANDWICH PLACE

Best Sandwich Place elicits a variety of responses with the name, but it does live up to its moniker. The bread is baked daily by a local bakery, and the Korean bulgogi rice bowl and Kalbi steak sandwich are highly-recommended favorites. Fresh ingredients and fresh bread make a huge difference at this local waterfront favorite.

MATE

Like its name, Mate is simple yet very inviting. It has some of the best happy hour deals for sushi and drinks in Georgetown. You’ll find locals stopping in after work and before a movie at the AMC next door.

BANGKOK JOE'S THAI RESTAURANT

Bangkok Joe’s is another example of a husband-and-wife team thanks to Chef Aulie Bunyarataphan and Proprietor Mel Oursinsiri. The restaurant offers traditional Thai cuisine with a modern American twist that incorporates a bevy of Asian influences into adventurous dishes.

The waterfront at Georgetown is one of Washington, D.C.’s most beautiful living and entertainment spots. When you’re beginning your home search in the Georgetown area, please do not hesitate to reach out.
